Shipping Guidelines
Stamps2Go charges buyers a
fixed shipping and handling fee of $1.50 for each order placed with a seller in
the buyer's own country. If the order is from an out-of-country seller, the
shipping and handling fee is $3.00.
If all of the stamps in your order are from one in-country seller, the total
shipping fee will be $1.50. If your order includes items from three different
in-country sellers, you will be charged $4.50 for shipping. If your order
includes stamps from one in-country seller and two out-of-country sellers,
you will be charged $7.50 for shipping. This shipping and handling fee is
passed directly to the sellers to offset their actual shipping expenses.
One of the nice things about the stamp collecting hobby is that it is
inexpensive for collectors to ship stamps to each other. Back in the days
before the internet, many stamp dealers took advantage of this fact by offering
"approvals" to their customers. And even though postage rates have increased
many-fold over the years, it is still economical to send stamps by first class
mail (or airmail letter post for international shipments). Plus, at
Stamps2Go we believe it is only right that
stamp collectors and dealers should support world postal authorities, which
have, after all, provided the basis for our hobby.
With these thoughts in mind, we offer the following shipping and handling
guidelines to sellers:
-
The preferred method of shipment is by first class mail (in the USA) or airmail
letter post. You may, optionally, ship by another method such as UPS or FEDEX
if you feel that it is necessary and worthwhile. However, under no
circumstances should an order be shipped by parcel post or surface mail, since
buyers will be expecting their purchase to arrive in just a few days.
-
For most orders, the stamps can be placed in mounts or glassine envelopes, and
sandwiched between two pieces of lightweight cardboard, such as poster board.
Then mail them in a standard letter or business size envelope. One or two
ounces of first class postage should cover most orders, when shipped in this
manner. Your total cost should easily be covered by our shipping and handling
fee.
-
In some cases, where the buyer orders a large number of stamps, it may not be
possible to ship the order for less than $1.50 ($3.00 internationally).
However, your profit margin from such a large order should be adequate to cover
any additional postage that might be necessary. If you are selling items such
as full or half sheets of stamps, or souvenir sheets, you may want to add a
little to the selling price to compensate for the additional postage costs.
-
If you are selling a very valuable item, and feel more comfortable shipping by
another method (such as FEDEX next day air, with insurance and tracking), you
should price the item accordingly. In such cases, you are permitted to mention
the special shipping you are willing to provide along with the stamp
description, but must still accept the fixed Stamps2Go
shipping fee as compensation.
-
Every order should be shipped promptly. In order to receive payment for an
order, a seller must log in to Stamps2Go
and tell us the shipping date for the order. If a buyer has not received his
order after 10 days (20 days for out-of-country orders) from this shipping
date, he may register a complaint.
Although some sellers (particulary commercial dealers) may object to our $1.50
and $3.00 fixed price shipping and handling policy, we believe it is the best
alternative for both buyers and sellers. Buyers will feel free to shop without
worrying about unexpected shipping fees, and sellers will be fairly compensated
in most cases.
