Shipping Charges
When it comes to shipping charges, at Stamps2Go,
regardless of the number of items purchased
from a single seller, the shipping charge will be $1.50 for in-country
purchases, or $3.00 for out-of-country purchases.
While this low, fixed shipping charge may seem like a radical approach compared
to the way things are currently done on other internet sites, we think it makes
perfect sense. Buyers no longer have to be concerned with the possibility of
paying outrageous shipping charges, and can concentrate on shopping for the
items they need from a variety of sellers. And sellers, on the average, will
still be compensated enough to cover their expenses.
I'm sure we are chasing away a few sellers by insisting that every order be
shipped for a $1.50 ($3.00 out-of-country). They will complain that some
items, like full sheets of stamps, or stamps on cover, just can't be mailed for
this small amount. And, of course, they're right. But most philatelic items can
easily be mailed for less than one dollar. For all but the most precious
stamps, the packaging can consist of a glassine envelope, a small piece of
poster board for a stiffener, and a business envelope - total cost to send is a
first class stamp.
In cases where valuable items must be packaged more carefully, or where larger
envelopes must be used, the seller will usually have enough of a profit margin
from the sale to cover the additional shipping cost. And, if need be, the
seller can add a small amount to his selling price to cover additional shipping
and handling costs.
The important thing to keep in mind is that each registered seller at
Stamps2Go must agree to ship at this price,
and is obligated to use proper packaging methods.
